Supporting Affordable Homeownership in Brampton
I was pleased to visit Habitat GTA’s newest housing development in Brampton, where 12 new affordable homes have been completed and will soon welcome local families.
This project represents more than the construction of new homes. It is about creating opportunities for families to put down roots, achieve greater stability, and build a brighter future in the community they call home.
Affordable housing initiatives like this play an important role in strengthening our communities and ensuring that more families have access to safe, secure, and attainable housing.
Thank you to Habitat GTA and everyone involved in bringing this project to life. Their dedication is helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families and contributing to a stronger, more inclusive Brampton.

Inspiring Young Minds at the Sunday Education School Science Fair
I was pleased to attend the Sunday Education School Science Fair at David Suzuki Secondary School and meet so many talented students from Grades 4 to 8.
It was inspiring to see the creativity, curiosity, and hard work that students put into their projects. The students presented their handwritten and handmade projects on display boards, showcasing the passion these young learners have for discovery and problem-solving.
Thank you to Friends of Gujarat and Sunday Education School for organizing this event and for their ongoing commitment to supporting youth in our community. Events like these help foster a love of learning, encourage innovation, and give young people the opportunity to develop valuable skills for the future.

BUILDING CANADA STRONG: FEDERAL UPDATES
New Federal Support for Canadian Businesses and Jobs
The Government of Canada has announced $1.5 billion in new support to help Canadian businesses and workers respond to ongoing U.S. tariffs and strengthen our economy.
This includes a new $1 billion program through the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to support companies that manufacture and export products containing steel, aluminum, or copper. The program will help businesses facing tariff-related challenges invest in their operations, adapt to changing market conditions, and remain competitive.
An additional $500 million is also being provided through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative. Delivered through Canada’s regional development agencies, this funding will help small and medium-sized businesses across a range of sectors access support to improve productivity, diversify into new markets, and create new opportunities for growth.
Canadian workers and businesses have shown tremendous resilience in the face of global economic uncertainty. These investments are designed to help protect jobs, strengthen key industries, and support long-term economic growth by helping businesses expand beyond traditional export markets.
The federal government will continue working to defend Canadian industries, support workers, and ensure businesses have the tools they need to succeed in a changing global economy.

Canada Summer Jobs 2026: Now Hiring!
The hiring period for Canada Summer Jobs is now open!
This program helps young people gain valuable work and life experience while also supporting local organizations, businesses, non-profits, and community groups. These opportunities help students get their foot in the door, build skills, and stay active during the summer, while giving employers extra support during a busy time of year.
This year, up to 100,000 Canada Summer Jobs opportunities will be available for youth across the country.
Youth in Brampton Centre are encouraged to visit the Government of Canada’s Job Bank website to explore available opportunities or download the Job Bank mobile app.
