Dear Neighbours,
As the summer ends, I hope you and your family are enjoying the new season. Happy back to all of the students in Brampton! Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet with residents, celebrate local milestones, and announce new federal investments that will strengthen Brampton’s economy and keep our communities safe.
Here’s a look at what’s been happening in Brampton Centre and important federal updates you may find helpful.

Working Together for Brampton’s Future
Our government met with the City of Brampton for the 2026 Government of Canada Pre-Budget Submission.
These conversations are an important opportunity to hear directly from our city about the challenges Bramptonians are facing and the priorities that require continued partnership between all levels of government.
Brampton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, and its future depends on governments working hand in hand. I’m proud to continue advocating for our community and ensuring Brampton’s priorities are part of the conversation.

Celebrating Sport and Community with Lali Gurans
It was a pleasure to join the Lali Gurans Sports & Cultural Club for the final day of their summer soccer camp here in Brampton.
It’s wonderful to see our youth being active and enjoying sports this summer. Through Canada Summer Jobs, young people had the opportunity to gain valuable experience while helping make this camp possible.
At this difficult time, as devastating floods and landslides continue to affect communities in Nepal, my thoughts are with everyone impacted and with the families waiting to hear from loved ones. I’m proud to see the Nepali community here in Brampton coming together to support one another and their community back home.

BUILDING CANADA STRONG: FEDERAL UPDATES
Supporting Canadian Workers and Businesses Against Tariffs
Canada is standing up for Canadian workers and businesses as we navigate an increasingly uncertain global trade environment.
The Government of Canada has committed $7.5 billion in new and enhanced tariff support to help Canadian businesses weather trade disruptions, adapt to changing markets, and strengthen our economy.
This support includes:
• $1.5 billion through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative to help small and medium-sized businesses respond to new tariff pressures and protect Canadian jobs.
• $2 billion through the Canada Strong Diversification Fund to support tariff-impacted businesses with projects that strengthen and diversify our economy.
• $500 million in additional financing through the Business Development Bank of Canada’s (BDC) Pivot to Grow program for businesses affected by tariffs, regardless of sector.
• Expanded access to BDC tariff-related programs, making support available to more small businesses by lowering the annual revenue threshold for eligible applicants to $1 million.
• Continued support for key sectors, including manufacturing, steel, aluminum, forestry, and softwood lumber, helping Canadian businesses adapt and remain competitive.
These measures build on nearly $25 billion in tariff relief and support already provided to Canadian industries, bringing total federal tariff support to nearly $32.5 billion.
At the same time, Canada is matching new U.S. tariffs dollar-for-dollar with counter-tariffs while continuing to strengthen our economy at home and diversify trade relationships around the world.
Our government will continue to stand up for Canadian workers, protect Canadian jobs, support our businesses, and build a stronger and more resilient economy.

Helping More Children Access Nutritious Food
As a new school year begins, the National School Food Program is helping more children access nutritious food at school while supporting families with the cost of groceries.
For the 2026–27 school year, federal funding for provincial and territorial school food programs has doubled from 2024–25 levels to $140 million annually, helping provide meals to up to 400,000 more children every year. Participating families with two children in school can save an estimated $800 a year on groceries.
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Supporting school food is an investment in children, families, and the future of communities like Brampton.
